| New shopping trolley from Wanzl: Compact trolley in a variety of colours [more] |
Narrow, compact and right on trend: The new plastic shopping trolley from Wanzl, “Tango City”, is the perfect companion for city stores. The attractive design immediately catches the eye: The stylish contrast of elegant anthracite for the trolley basket and fresh, appealing colours for the basket flap as well as the shopping trolley and basket handle, make this model a real eye catcher for any store. The colour of the plastic parts can be individualised on request to create the perfect corporate image. As well as the visual merits, there are practical ones too: With a basket volume of 75 litres, this model is ideal for short, quick shopping trips. The slim design is also tailored to suit modern city stores with limited space: two trolleys can easily be pushed past one another, even in narrow aisles. Very nimble, with excellent directional stability and easy to steer. The convenience of a shallow basket means easy handling. This popular feature means that the “Tango City” is also an ideal second trolley for larger stores. The interesting honeycomb structure of the plastic basket means that the trolley is lightweight whilst the basket is robust, even when fully loaded. The plastic basket without metal reinforcement makes it possible to detect EAS labels and is up to 100% compatible with RFID.
Wanzl equips the “Tango City” shopping trolley with a whole range of features as standard. For example, original Wanzl castors: durable, smooth-running and incredibly quiet both inside and outside the store, even on uneven ground. Quiet by nature, the low noise level of the “Tango City” benefits customers, staff and local residents alike. Plastic deflector rings directly above the castors protect the shop fittings from possible damage. The child seat/goods tray integrated into the trolley basket can be used in various ways: the child is securely and comfortably raised, alternatively when folded down the tray can carry delicate items. The ergonomic “Promobox S Grip” coin deposit system is integrated into the handle, along with generous advertising space and a practical clipboard. Another practical detail is the contoured grip on the front of the basket to comfortably pull the trolley. Equally well thought out for added safety: the open chassis for plenty of leg room and reduced shoplifting. To preserve space in the basket, Wanzl also offers a tray for PET containers as an optional extra. The tray can be retrofitted at a later date on request.

Ecology and sustainability are aspects that customers rate highly. The new GT26 eco shopping basket from Wanzl meets these criteria, making last-minute shopping and quick shopping trips fun: because with the GT26 eco, the eco-factor is already “built-in”. Wanzl makes the 26-litre basket entirely from environmentally friendly recycled material. What’s more, the ergonomic, semicircular design allows the basket to be carried close to the body to lighten the load. A further advantage is that the basket’s tightly meshed structure makes sure that even small items are securely transported and that no products are lost whilst shopping. The handles have a specially shaped surface for comfortable shopping and come in blue, magenta, orange and green. This makes each shopping basket unique and eye-catching. Wanzl can also supply the environmentally friendly GT26 eco shopping basket with an individual advertising space on request, in accordance with the store’s CI.
The GT26 eco shopping basket does even more: when combined with Wanzl’s Pick-up model, it becomes a small shopping trolley for those last-minute extras. Heavy items such as drinks packs can be just as easily carried as the two shopping baskets doubled up. This combination is a real alternative, particularly in smaller stores. The GT26 eco can be combined with a practical basket stacking trolley for space-saving and tidy storage. |

With effect from 17 January 2012, the Wanzl group has increased its holding in the Cari-All / Technibilt Group in North America to 100%. Wanzl has owned a minority holding in the Group since mid-2006. After over five years of excellent co-operation, Wanzl now decided to increase this share to 100%. By doing so, it has succeeded in bringing the largest and most successful shopping trolley manufacturer in North America under the umbrella of the Wanzl Group.
The Cari-All / Technibilt Group is a manufacturer that specialises in shopping trolley production. The Group manufactures its products predominantly in Newton, North Carolina (USA). The entire metal production process takes place here, including surface treatment and assembly for shopping trolleys. There is also plastic production in Montreal (Canada) for shopping trolley components (castors, etc.), as well as production for third-party customers on a small scale. The Group employs around 330 co-workers in Newton and Montreal.
In terms of market cultivation, this is an excellent addition to the Wanzl Group, as the Cari-All / Technibilt Group is focussed on the North American market, where Wanzl has previously been of relatively low significance. 13 of the retail traders with the highest turnovers in the world are based in North America, which is why this market is extremely significant. The acquisition of Cari-All / Technibilt sets a great challenge for the Wanzl family business, but also a unique opportunity in terms of the Group's global presence. The two dominant shopping trolley manufacturers are now united under one roof.
| Sales talent: 2011 POS Award for the “POSsibility” display [more] |
Award winning in 2011: at the viscom international trade fair for visual communication, technology and design held in mid-October in Düsseldorf, Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik won the gold award in the “Metal Systems” category of the Superstar display competition. The prize winner was the innovative “POSsibility” modular display system from Wanzl. With its wide range of design options for eye-catching product launches, impulse buys and positioning of special offers, this modular long-term system is the last word in goods presentation at the Point of Sale (POS). Werner Kössler, Wanzl product manager, the project leader and a major creative influence on the system, together with Markus Galgenmiller’s design team, said: “Our customers in industry and trade are investing in a ‘living’, expandable mobile system that can be constantly modified. ‘POSsibility’ is exactly this system – it adapts perfectly to every POS sales situation and successfully ensures a significant increase in turnover.”“
The judges were won over by the convenient and rapid construction of the system, which requires no tools. They were equally impressed by its use as a long-term, visionary and customised display for themes, special offers and basic products with unlimited presentation versions, while taking up only 0.96 m² of sales floor space. It is even ideal for all kinds of product ranges – food as well as non-food – always marketed to a high quality. Further advantages: “POSsibility” can be transported by all types of lifting equipment and flexibly delivered to the POS. Which is exactly where shoppers make purchase decisions in a matter of seconds. Simultaneously standardised and yet still customisable through the use of flexible advertising panels, “POSsibility” is a mobile individual display for secondary placement and special offers. The Wanzl display is also perfectly suited as a mobile shop-in-shop system for shopfitting concepts. Lighting or digital media can be easily integrated into the system. These advantages won over the prestigious judging panel of the Superstar competition, chaired by Prof. Welfhard Kraiker, from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, as well as the six other selected individuals from industry, trade, display associations and creative agencies. The 18th Superstar Award was sponsored by Display Verlag in Hamburg and its magazine on sales promotion and marketing. Awards were presented to competitors in six categories.
On the Superstar competition floor, Wanzl presented the system using the product ranges and company branding of Summer Fun GmbH to demonstrate the seasonal placement of swimming pool products, and using fischerwerke GmbH & Co. KG’s branding to show the long-term placement of screws and similar products. Both companies have successfully employed the marketing display at their POS since 2011 in a variety of sales channels. Summer Fun chose “POSsibility” because: “Goods and the POS message were prominently displayed,” explains Peter Herrmann, the Summer Fun marketing director. Manuel Schiegl, responsible for design and advertising at Summer Fun, added: “Permanent displays from Wanzl ensure a durable, attractive and sophisticated market presence when it comes to marketing, and extend and reinforce brand presence, goods presence and sales at the POS. It is for exactly these reasons that we chose the “POSsibility” display system from Wanzl.”“

The manager of the Wanzl POS long-term displays division Werner Kössler presents the 2011 gold Superstar Award in the “Metal Systems” category. The winning Wanzl “POSsibility” display takes up less that one square metre of shop floor space and perfectly presents and brands any range of goods. And it can also be expanded into a complete shop-in-shop concept on request. |
| Wanzl will ensure that you travel in comfort when it comes to your luggage [more] |
Tropical islands in the Indian Ocean are dream destinations for travellers from all over the world: with plenty of sun, sea, sand and relaxation, they provide a simply heavenly escape from mass tourism. The transport hubs for guests in the middle of the Indian Ocean are the international airports of the Seychelles, the Maldives and Mauritius. As soon as they have landed, passengers are met with the comfort of luggage transportation using tried-and-tested Wanzl technology. Since June 2011 1,000 Wanzl luggage trolleys have been in action in Malé International Airport in the Maldives. This September a further 450 luggage transport trolleys will be delivered to the international airport in the Seychelles. And at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius, Wanzl has been taking care of passenger comfort when it comes to luggage transportation for several years already
The three airports opted to use Wanzl as a supplier on account of the company’s positive reputation when it comes to material and processing quality. All trolleys are produced from aluminium or stainless steel, which helps to increase service life and maintain a perfect outer surface in spite of the high salt content of the air due to the close proximity to the sea. All these deliveries are first orders. The trolleys were all produced at the manufacturing facilities in Leipheim and Kirchheim – according to Wanzl’s highest quality standards. The managing partner Gottfried Wanzl is delighted with the extremely positive development of the “Airport” business division: “Wanzl products are valued around the world. For Wanzl’s headquarters in Swabia, these orders from three of the most exclusive holiday destinations in the world demonstrate that the quality of Wanzl products has once again prevailed over its international competitors.”

| Carrefour Planet orders “Tango” plastic shopping trolleys and shopfitting systems from Wanzl across Europe [more] |
The shopping trolley is a store’s first calling card. Carrefour, Europe’s largest retail chain and second in the global rankings of retail dealers, also believes this. In conjunction with Wanzl, the global market leader for shopping trolleys, Carrefour is now equipping its large-scale Carrefour Planet hypermarkets with the “Tango” plastic shopping trolleys with 220 litre basket volume. Carrefour Planet is the new large-scale format from Carrefour. Customer convenience, service and the shopping experience rank foremost in the new stores. Carrefour began with two pilot projects in Ecully and Vénissieux in summer 2010. Around 500 stores in France, Belgium, Spain, Greece and Italy are to be converted to the new Carrefour Planet concept by 2013. At the same time, Carrefour is planning for an important customer satisfaction factor with an investment amounting to 40 million euros in new shopping trolleys.
The “Tango” plastic shopping trolley from Wanzl is ideally suited to the new concept, since “Tango” makes the shopping experience more enjoyable, more convenient and more colourful. The shopping trolley is characterised by high-quality material and workmanship as well as its modern appearance and long service life. The new model is also equipped for future RFID technology. One further advantage of the “Tango” models is their low weight: the basket, basket flap and handle unit are made entirely of plastic. This also means that all “Tango” models – even when full – are easy to push and child's play to steer, as well as being extremely quiet. The original Wanzl castors also ensure a smooth shopping experience.
Wanzl first introduced the “Tango” plastic shopping trolley in 2002. Over the last nine years, many retail businesses have recognised the advantages of the “Tango”. With the new assignment from Carrefour, the “Tango” has now finally conquered Europe’s retail trade comprehensively. The “Tango” range covers all store formats from convenience stores to hypermarkets. In the scope of a further assignment, Wanzl Shopfitting is providing Carrefour with all the store fittings for the organic departments of Carrefour Planet stores in Belgium, France, Greece, Italy and Spain. For this, Wanzl Shopfitting has developed a distinct shelving system up to the production stage, based on the design input of the architects commissioned by Carrefour. This system combines the simplest handling during assembly and conversion with an elegant, classic design. Wanzl Shopfitting produces and supplies the system for organic departments of up to 400 square metres in around 500 Carrefour Planet stores.

Stable, easy to steer, extremely quiet and in the company’s CI colours: Carrefour Planet is adopting the “Tango” plastic shopping trolley from Wanzl in its stores across Europe.

| Innovative picking – multiple benefits [more] |
|
With its logistics and industry division, Wanzl offers a broad range of order picking trolleys. The latest innovation is the further development of the KT3 “drive” order picking trolley. This has a fifth wheel – attached under the centre of the trolley – in the hub of which a durable no-maintenance electrical motor is integrated for transporting heavy loads. The fifth wheel guarantees outstanding manoeuvrability, even with a heavy load of up to 300 kg. It even allows the order picking trolley to be turned 360° on the spot.
|
World first: unique and intelligent drive for long-term use The electric motor is operated easily via a rocker switch ergonomically integrated into the handle, which controls forwards and backwards movement. Depending on the requirements and application, five different speeds can be set. The battery required to drive the trolley can be easily replaced using a coupling mechanism to guarantee that the KT3 “drive” is ready for operation around the clock. For the first time a lithium polymer battery is used, which is reflected in a significant reduction in weight and smaller dimensions – this is a distinct advantage of the battery change principle. The new technology results in a significantly longer service life and, at the same time, constantly high performance. If the battery needs recharging, this can be carried out simply and safely thanks to the fast loading capacity.
Extremely stable and durable, the KT3 “drive” is available in various sizes, heights and equipment variants. With the new technology, the KT3 "drive" can be used in a broader temperature range. The basic model can be variably equipped with additional shelves. The trolley can therefore be adapted to suit individuals and incorporates their preferences and not vice versa. The battery-powered automatic driving operation, which carries even the heaviest loads without the need for physical strength is a great benefit. The aim here is to lighten the load for people as much as possible when they are working. According to the German Federal Statistics Office, spinal disc injuries are the second leading cause of work-related illness in Germany at over 27 percent. The resulting economic compensation amounts to over €10 billion annually – not including the cost of non-productive time, reduced service and related disorders. The burden on the environment is also reduced since the KT3 "drive" can be recycled in an environmentally friendly way at the end of its product life cycle. Even the battery can be reintroduced into natural circulation.
The optional fold-out ladder is fitted with a safety switch that prevents the order picking trolley from being driven unintentionally. In addition to the KT3 "drive" innovation, Wanzl offers a wide range of order picking trolleys. The trolley variants developed in system construction can be flexibly equipped and converted. Complemented by the wide range of accessories, Wanzl order picking trolleys can be individually equipped for any requirement and for any product group.
Smooth running of transport, picking and warehousing are decisive factors in the efficiency and success of a company. The list of reference customers, for example TV shopping channels, internationally operating logistics companies and well-known industrial companies, is the best feedback for the high quality of Wanzl's logistics programme.
The German Cardiac Centre in Munich uses the KT3 “drive” picking trolley to transport boxes of medication with a total weight of up to 300kg per trolley from the central distribution point directly to patients.
The Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki, for instance, has incorporated a special custom-designed version of the KT3 in their British headquarters in Milton Keynes for group transport of small parts.
Würth Modyf, a subsidiary company of the Würth Group has a mobile storage concept that provides great efficiency and flexibility. This is ensured by over 700 mobile containers that are adapted to the customer’s needs.
Wanzl is the partner for consultations in the area of wire expertise. Over 60 years of experience in the market and the substantial capacity of the market leaders in equipping trade and logistics companies often lead to unique solutions worldwide. Along with the new battery technology and electric drive in the trolley, emerging technologies are also employed for easy handling of heavy loads. For example, Wanzl is equipped with totally new solution approaches in the area of RFID.
| Innovation leader of international retail [more] |
After five days, the EuroShop trade fair, which is held every three years in Düsseldorf, finally closed its doors in March. EuroShop is the world’s largest trade fair in the international retail sector. Wanzl presented itself as an innovation leader, and used its two trade fair stands, Self-Service Systems in Hall 13 and Shopfitting/Shop Solutions in Hall 12, to show what would shape the stores of tomorrow.
The trade fair stand in Hall 13 was completely dominated by the philosophy “strong partnerships_made by Wanzl”. Here, Wanzl presented itself as a partner of international retailers with new ideas and solutions for the shopping experience. A particular highlight of the Self-Service Systems stand was the “smart shopping” project, a vision of shopping in the future. For “smart shopping”, Wanzl collaborated with the METRO GROUP to design a completely new shopping trolley, fitted with plastic baskets. Other highly topical innovations included the industry-specific self-service solutions for retail – from consumer markets and discounters to cash & carry stores, DIY stores and garden centres, as the trend in the retail sector is clearly moving towards higher quality and individualisation. Trade fair visitors also showed particular interest in the Wanzl Trolley Management service with its comprehensive service packages especially for shopping trolleys, such as cleaning and maintenance. Stores that use this range of Wanzl services are always able to offer their customers clean, hygienic, flawless shopping trolleys that work perfectly. The Self-Service Systems business area was also represented at the POPAI D-A-CH joint stand in Hall 05, where Wanzl, as a co-operation partner of the association, showcased effective display solutions for trade and industry.
The second Wanzl trade fair stand Wanzl Shopfitting/Wanzl Shop Solutions was presented at EuroShop in Hall 12. Ten boxes with real shop areas, such as fruit and vegetables, wine, textiles, health & beauty, sport and outdoor as well as a virtual 3D shopping mall demonstrated the company’s expertise in the field of planning, project management and in the creation of turnkey shops. Natural materials and a “pure” and “simple” design idiom set the tone. The centrepiece of the stand, the café developed by Wanzl Shop Solutions, also proved extremely popular here. The concept developed by Wanzl’s shopfitters was also a hit with the judges at EuroShop: the Wanzl Shopfitting/Wanzl Shop Solutions trade fair stand scooped the International Shopfitting Organisation’s “Best Design Award”. Wanzl Shopfitting was also granted the Innovation Award by Germany’s leading architecture magazine AIT for its idea of implementing plans in 3D. This enables retailers to inspect the stores planned by Wanzl on the computer.
At EuroShop, Wanzl showcased itself to the international guests from around 90 countries as a globally operating enterprise with subsidiaries and agencies in all the major markets of the world. The visitors were looked after at both stands by Wanzl representatives from the international distribution network. In-depth discussions were held in the comfort of Wanzl’s cafés and restaurant. Managing partner Gottfried Wanzl gave a very positive summary: “At EuroShop, we showed the market that Wanzl is one of the leading idea suppliers of the retail industry and boasts technical ingenuity, creativity and expertise in developing solutions. Both Wanzl trade fair stands proved extremely popular. Sentiment was very positive, you can feel that things are on the up again in retail.”Even during the trade fair, customers were placing new orders with Wanzl, and lively business is expected on the back of the trade fair.

| strong partnerships_made by Wanzl [more] |
As the leading innovator in international retail, Wanzl will be showcasing the highlights of the supermarkets of tomorrow at EuroShop 2011, the leading trade fair worldwide for the retail sector: with new creativity and strong partnerships under the philosophy 'strong partnerships_made by Wanzl'. Wanzl will be presenting its products at two trade fair stands for the first time at EuroShop: self-service systems from Wanzl can be found in hall 13, shopfitting solutions in hall 12. Displays can be viewed at the joint POPAI stand in hall 5.
At the self-service systems stand in hall 13, Wanzl is showcasing the shopping world of tomorrow with smart shopping: the enhanced vision of future shopping, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The focus of the smart shopping concept is the plastic shopping trolley M3EA, jointly developed by the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative and Wanzl. The trolley, equipped with plastic GT26 shopping baskets, enables the pre-sorting of goods, combined with flexible, time-saving purchasing at the checkout through the identification of RFID goods labels in the scan tunnel. In a matter of seconds, the latest UHF antennae can register hundreds of items in the new M3EA shopping trolley without needing to lay the goods on the conveyor belt and then put them back into the shopping basket. This makes long queues a thing of the past. All of the data ascertained in the scan tunnel is automatically transmitted via a LAN connection to the pay tower, which subsequently prints out a receipt after the purchase has been completed by card. Following payment, the exit gate directly linked to the pay tower opens automatically for a default period of time, so that the customer can pass through the checkout. Finally, the shopping baskets can be placed directly in the boot of a vehicle. The smart shopping concept also includes integrated shelves equipped with UHF read antennae for automatic registering of the flow of goods: when a customer removes an item from a shelf, the removal is registered and immediately forwarded to the merchandise planning and control system so that the inventory can be updated. The use-by dates of the items can also be checked using UHF.
The five trade-specific shopping worlds revealed by Wanzl at EuroShop are highly topical: premium shopping, beauty shopping, speed shopping, lifestyle shopping and heavy duty shopping. This is because the general trend in the retail market is clearly moving in the direction of higher quality and individualisation. For each of the five shopping worlds, Wanzl is offering a shop tour with the relevant products – from shopping trolleys with accessories such as coin deposit systems and magnifying glasses through to display solutions, entrance systems and checkout barriers. Wanzl has solutions for every market – ranging from establishments with a sophisticated ambience and the personal care, health and cosmetic arena through to discount supermarkets, lifestyle and DIY.

| Practical on three levels [more] |
Wanzl has developed a new shopping trolley with three levels, specially tailored for use in DIY, building and garden specialist stores. After all, German DIY enthusiasts and garden lovers can always be relied on when it comes to retail sales: in 2009, Germans spent EUR 17.9 billion at Obi and its counterparts, reported the Federal Association of German DIY, Building and Garden Specialist Stores (BHB) at the start of the year. The most significant driving force: the garden business. So-called “green goods” contributed almost a quarter of the total sales of building stores. Across the industry, sales with plants - referred to in the technical jargon as “living plants” – increased in the past year by 6.4%.
The new SH-100/3 shopping trolley from Wanzl with its three levels makes it much easier to load and transport goods in these specialist stores. The essential advantages: The customers have more space for their shopping, which leads to greater sales. There is plenty of space for large containers and unwieldy items on the spaciously sized, sturdy bottom tray. This practical tray is also ideal for loading items through. Delicate goods such as plants can be transported safely on the new, middle level directly under the shopping basket. There is therefore still plenty of space in the shopping basket with a volume of 100 litres for other shopping. A further advantage: the flat design of the basket makes it easy to load and unload the goods. Wanzl equips the new SH-100/3 shopping trolley model with a child seat as standard, which can alternatively act as an additional storage space for delicate products. Wanzl has developed a new chassis to ensure that the trolley can still be nested to save space, even with its three levels. The shopping trolley is also optionally available with 160-mm castors.

| The new MUC 900 – elegant, quiet and versatile [more] |
|
Speciality stores have as many transport tasks as they have product ranges: for many years now, Wanzl, with its innovative Multi-Cart series, has been a reliable partner to speciality stores for handling such tasks. The MUC 900, the latest model in the Multi-Cart series, is designed specifically to handle a variety of product ranges and to meet customer's needs – for higher turnover and a more pleasurable shopping experience. Wanzl has equipped the MUC 900 with a brand new 90-litre, plastic shopping basket. This durable basket offers a host of benefits: it is food-safe, resistant to acids, alkalis and cleaning agents. The plastic basket is metal-free and fully EAS and RFID-compatible. And just as important, the plastic basket on the MUC 900 protects both the shop fittings and cars parked outside the store in the event of accidental knocks.
Standard equipment
As standard, Wanzl fits the new shopping trolleys with the ergonomic Promobox Plus coin deposit system, which is integrated into the handle unit and includes advertising space. Depending on their requirements, speciality stores can choose between two bottom trays of different lengths – tailored to the individual transport capacity and to the store's product range. All trolleys are fitted with original Wanzl castors with noise-absorbing tread.
Optional equipment
Wanzl can also supply the new MUC 900 model with a child seat/goods shelf: if required, customers can also use the child seat as a goods shelf for delicate products. A further option is the 5th castor mounted centrally under the trolley: this Wanzl patent guarantees easy steering combined with the low weight of the trolley and high directional stability even when fully loaded. For use on travelators, the new MUC 900 shopping trolley is available with original Wanzl travelator castors – for travelator safety between floors.

The new MUC 900 shopping trolley from Wanzl – an all-rounder for speciality stores: the plastic basket holds 90 litres and the bottom tray is available in two different lengths.

| Shopping with vision [more] |
Best before date, allergies or simply too much sugar? One glance at the legally required product declaration simplifies the purchase decision and protects the consumers. Particularly with food products, given the growing number of people with allergies and the consumer desire for products without artificial additives. Further sensitive products groups are cosmetics and cleaning products. The small print on the goods label is, due to the mostly small font size, difficult to read even for those with normal vision. For more efficient and more comprehensive customer information, Wanzl now offers a new magnifier, fitted to the handle of the shopping trolley. Thanks to the magnification factor, the customer can now read the required information on the goods label in an easily readable font size. The magnifying glass, that can be pulled out from its housing, is protected all round against the weather and any damages. An integrated clip for pens and notepads also simplifies the shopping experience for the customer. The new magnifier can be included in all popular Wanzl shopping trolleys with round tube handles and can also be retrofitted to delivered shopping trolleys. For markets that would prefer a stationary magnifier solution with a secure position at the PoS, Wanzl offers a magnifier display, optionally available with a base or a wall fixing bracket.

| Wanzl bonus scheme for the trolley fleet [more] |
| Now is the perfect time to invest in new shopping trolleys: until 30 June 2010 Wanzl is running a bonus scheme that will significantly benefit the retailer and ultimately the customers too. Wanzl not only takes back your used shopping trolleys but also pays you an attractive bonus for your old stock if you buy new shopping trolleys. The bonus is 3 to 4 euros depending on the trolley model and the quantity of shopping trolleys returned. The exchange is obviously free of charge. The only condition: the quantity of new shopping trolleys ordered at least corresponds to the number of old models exchanged. With a shopping trolley made by Wanzl, the retailer can rely on the top quality of the world's market leader with perfectly functioning technology for seamless shopping. And customers appreciate the new trolleys, as they offer optimal shopping service and are hygienically clean. As a result, customers like returning to the store, thus ensuring higher turnover. For these reasons, the new trolleys from Wanzl are worth every penny. As part of the bonus scheme, Wanzl can also optionally supply any individually required additional equipment on request – perfectly tailored to the range of products and the equipment of the stores. Further information on the current Wanzl bonus scheme for shopping trolleys is available online at www.wanzl.com. |

| Checkout: reducing inventory differences [more] |
In its current audit the EHI Retail Institute established that inventory differences in the retail sector add up to approximately four billion euros a year.* Shoplifting is responsible for over half the deficit; every 200th shopping trolley with unpaid goods leaves the market through the open entrance without an electronic entry system or passes through the unprotected checkout area. Wanzl now offers the retail trade two new checkout barriers so that your figures add up: the two lockable "RP" and "RPS" versions can be directly fitted on the wall on the left or right or directly at the cash desk to save space. They guarantee the highest possible level of security at unmanned checkouts. The "RP" type can be opened by personnel in both directions after they have lifted the swivel arm. The lockable "RPS" model allows the swivel arm to be unlocked using a key. After having been opened, the swivel arm of both versions stops automatically in the 90° position. Both versions are available with an additional alarm (if required) that audibly informs personnel about a prohibited exit by the customer out of the market. The new Wanzl checkout barriers with retractable swivel arms can be flexibly adapted to various passage widths. Additionally, Wanzl checkout barriers are equipped with a standard panic alarm on both sides (certified by TÜV and GS) and can be opened automatically in case of an emergency when a certain amount of counter-pressure is applied. If required, Wanzl can offer several surfaces to match the interior of the market.

| Service for parents and bambini [more] |
| Wanzl is now making things really easy for mothers and fathers who are shopping with small children in pushchairs: most commercially available pushchair models can be attached to the new shopping trolley for pushchairs – so now you can shop in tandem. It is very easy to do: the parents connect the pushchair using the trolley's two retaining straps, use the snap lock and the two trolleys are attached to each other. During shopping, the child is in its regular environment and is always in the parents' field of vision. Wanzl has equipped the new shopping trolley for pushchairs with the ergonomic Comfort handle, which perfectly transfers the pushing and steering forces. This guarantees reliable steering and manoeuvrability as well as optimum track precision of the shopping trolley that is connected to the pushchair. When stopping in the store, a brake, integrated into one of the four original Wanzl castors, ensures that the trolley stops immediately and is reliably prevented from rolling away accidentally. Wanzl is offering an exclusive service with the new shopping trolley for pushchairs: comfortable and convenient shopping with pushchairs and shopping trolleys; the child is safely protected and the shopping trolley's 60-litre basket also offers plenty of space for goods. This first-class, unique service scores points with parents, who will want to visit the store again and again with their little ones. And in retail, this customer loyalty pays off with higher turnover. |

| True loyalty: service for families [more] |
Creating customer loyalty in retail is no child’s play: that is particularly true when catering to the needs of families, who normally make a great deal of purchases and generate large turnovers for the markets. That's why a stable relationship with the 'family' customer group is of great importance to retail. Wanzl fosters these relationships with practical help for shoppers, such as the new children's shopping trolley – >>Tangolino<<. This model supports individual customer orientation and ensures greater success by making a difference. The >>Tangolino<<, with its 22 litre plastic basket, combines fulfilling a child's playful needs with their desire to shop like a real grown-up. In practice, the >>Tangolino<< fulfils all expectations with the laughing bear motif on the top of the basket: to the children, the trolley is an attractive toy – in numerous market tests the >>Tangolino<< was immediately in constant use. The model from the Wanzl shopping trolley family >>Tango<< shows further strengths in the following characteristics: long service life, stability, outstanding handling and consistently good visuals, even in extreme circumstances and conditions.
The >>Tangolino<< is available in numerous attractive colours for the basket and flap. In addition, Wanzl offers this model in individual CI colours, after a minimum purchase amount. A coin deposit system integrated into the handle comes as standard, which ensures order when managing the trolleys. The optionally available flag-pole with a clearly visible market logo has an anti-theft effect, as it makes it more difficult to fit the small trolley into a car. The pushing handle integrated into the flag-pole allows parents to quickly intervene in their children's steering whilst shopping. The >>Tangolino<< belongs to the extensive Wanzl range of service trolleys for shopping with children. Markets with the >>Tangolino<< offer a significantly improved customer service, allowing them to so gain a clear advantage over their competitors. A further successful service trolley that is used in practice is the classic Wanzl >>Fun Mobile<< with a basket volume ranging from 80 to 130 litres. |

| Security portal for entrance and checkout [more] |
The entrance and checkout areas are sensitive zones in the markets: on the one hand, the entrance should be as >open< and friendly as possible. But, on the other hand, the security aspect is extremely important at both the entrance and the checkout – especially with regard to inventory differences. After all, the losses to the German retail industry due to shoplifting amount to almost EUR 2 billion per year, according to the findings of a recent survey by the EHI Retail Institute. The new intelligent Wanzl eGate system generation for the entrance area and the checkout achieves both: eGate adapts flexibly to the existing space situation and can be integrated perfectly into any shopping environment. At the same time, >eGate< features radar control, intelligent sensor technology and multifunctional high-tech functions as standard, and so provides the ultimate in security and maximum protection against inventory differences.
The >eGate< entrance system opens using a radar control: the radar beam and the opening periods can be adjusted to suit the market situation and the customer frequency. As an entrance system, >eGate< detects customers moving without authorisation in the direction of the exit and closes automatically. Attempts at manipulation are immediately forwarded to your staff: the >eGate< therefore prevents the entrance being used as an exit. Staff who are entitled to pass can open the system with a remote control, for example in order to push goods pallets through. The arm then closes independently, and the system returns again to its original position. All basic functions of the >eGate< system generation can also be controlled by control panel or remote control. Moreover, the integrated PC interface permits a convenient exchange of data and connection to a central computer, a remote maintenance service and to the building control system, e.g. in order to open automatically in emergencies such as a fire and to provide an additional escape route. The optionally available software package for the >eGate< for measuring customer frequency provides an additional economic benefit: at any time, markets can determine the number of customers in one or several branches and so can optimise their business procedures and the deployment of staff.
At the same time, the >eGate< operating as an exit gate can be an important system component for automated checkout systems, which can be used in parallel with traditional manned checkouts: combined with self-scanning and self-payment solutions, the checkout area can become a real innovation zone. When customers have paid for their shopping, the >eGate< opens automatically and the customer can leave the market. Customers benefit from greater flexibility when shopping and reduced waiting times at the checkout. |

| Bulk order for Hotel Service division Wanzl sets sail with AIDA Cruises [more] |
Cruises are successfully gathering way on the popularity scale of holiday makers. Thanks to the wide range of offerings, sea voyages have become affordable. In March 2009, products of the Wanzl Hotel Service business area will set sail on the AIDAluna's maiden voyage from Hamburg heading towards the English Channel, Spain, Portugal and Northern Africa. At 252 metres long, 32.2 metres wide and 1,250 cabins, the AIDAluna is the sixth ship in the AIDA Cruises fleet. The Rostock-based company has specialised as both an ocean carrier and tour operator in active and casual cruises with a wide range of sporting, wellness, spa and entertainment activities. Wanzl is delivering over 60 especially designed chambermaid trolleys in alder effect with countless extras for a perfect room service on AIDAluna. The 5th castor mounted centrally under the trolley, an exclusive development by Wanzl, allows the trolley to be turned on the spot. It allows chambermaids to nimbly move and control it. These features, coupled with its low depth, make it the ideal chambermaid trolley, saving space on corridors and cabins and at the same time still permitting passengers to pass. In a test deployment on the sister ship AIDAbella, the housekeeping personnel gave the Wanzl trolleys top marks. Wanzl is supplying over 130 space-saving handcarts in two versions, including a compact and folding one developed specifically for the AIDAluna, for pre-sorting of dirty laundry. The functioning transport of food and non-food supplies is supported by ten Wanzl transport trolleys. Twenty-eight spacious luggage collection trolleys offer lots of space and ensure a convenient luggage transport of individual and group travellers, already at the reception. After check-in, awaiting the passengers is the interesting world of AIDAluna with theatre, Indian-inspired wellness and spa area, cinema under a starlit sky, seven restaurants and eleven bars. Flexible Wanzl guidance systems help passengers to find their way.
>>With this new bulk order, our Hotel Service business area again proves its competence as a first-class supplier for the hotel and catering trade<<, outlines Gottfried Wanzl, Managing Partner of Wanzl. AIDAluna is already the second cruise ship Wanzl is supplying, after the Grand Celebration, which belongs to the Spanish company Ibero Cruceros. The products are manufactured at the Wanzl plants Leipheim and Kirchheim. >>As a worldwide leading partner of international trade, Wanzl set the company course in good time by expanding to other sectors, such as hotels, logistics and airports.<< In the past years, all business areas have developed positively, >>contributing to long term job security and the securing of the company's site in Swabia, Germany.

| From basic element to theme world [more] |
Purchase decisions are made at the PoS: Over 50 percent of all customers only decide here which product to purchase. The percentage even increases to 70 percent when considering seasonal purchases such as Christmas items or special offers.* The new Wanzl POSsibility sales system for first or second placements at the PoS turns these facts into cash turnover for trade and industry. The name POSsibility stands for the product range and also for pure presentation. Adapted to food and non-food articles, trends and exotic products, for every sector.
Intelligent basic module
The basic element consists of an original Wanzl metal pallet with a grate and a closed wooden base with Euro dimensions: 1200 x 800 mm. The basic unit is completed by wire panel elements with variable shelves. Panel elements can be plugged in flexibly. Brand manufacturers can fully stock the displays before delivering them to retail businesses. The stocked display system can then be transported directly from the truck or store to the sales room using a lift truck - very convenient, and also a real time-saver for retailers. Optionally, retail market personnel can stock items locally and individually for special sales promotions. The POSsibility display can optionally be used as a top-quality brand article system. Individual panels with brand names enable >>branding à la carte<<, create emotion and recognition value for customers and also help generate turnover.
Variable modular system
POSsibility can be adapted flexibly to any sales situation thanks to its intelligent modular principle. The modular approach makes POSibility very versatile and infinitely extendable. The system can be adapted to any room situation. Standalone solutions can be assembled by combining various modules consisting of wall and freestanding shelves. Additionally, it is possible to create entire theme or product worlds with individual product carrier concepts as a shop-in-shop system. Customers can access the sales system from up to four sides. If required, blister hooks, dividers, flexible wire shelves and price tracks can be individually adapted to the sales situation. POSsibility can be collapsed for transport and storage if required. A further advantage of the flexible system is its long service life and reusability which make it particularly environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

| Wanzl has its eye on the future [more] |
"Training programmes are a way of investing in the future, in the strengthening of Swabia as a location for business and in market leadership in international competition“, explains Gottfried Wanzl, Managing Partner of Wanzl, taking clear stock. And so the Wanzl team of trainers welcomed another 31 junior employees to the plants in Leipheim and Kirchheim this September to start a successful professional life. Twelve industrial mechanics, five industrial experts, two electronics installers, one precision mechanic as well as one surface coater are being trained at the Leipheim location. Wanzl also welcomed a student from the Intercultural Management course at the University of Applied Management in Erding with a branch at the Günzburg campus as well as a student from the Production Engineering course at the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm. In addition, a further eight trainees started at the Kirchheim location.
Guarantors for the success of tomorrow
During their training, the new junior employees will learn how to help shape the future success of Wanzl as a world market leader for shopping trolleys and as one of the leading partners to the international retail trade. Wanzl currently has over 3,700 employees in seven production facilities in Germany, France, the Czech Republic and China. 18 subsidiaries and over 40 agencies ensure international market proximity worldwide for customers on-site. Wanzl will open its next branch in the strongly-growing Indian market at the beginning of 2009, followed in the spring by the inauguration of the new administration section including a reception centre for customers as well as a training area at the corporate head office in Leipheim. Wanzl is thus making a clear commitment to Swabia and at the same time is fully aware of the challenges facing it as a global player on the world market: "The trainees and students learning today at Wanzl are the managers of tomorrow and, for us, guarantors of our future success on the international market", affirms Gottfried Wanzl. The team of trainers at Wanzl is also aware of its responsibilities in view of the task facing it in this new academic year and is anxious to repeat the successes of the past, which see the Wanzl trainees consistently achieving among the best test results in Swabia for their year.

| Lots of space in the basket [more] |
Lots of space in the basket
PET bottle packs have become a familiar feature in most supermarkets and consumer acceptance of alcohol-free beverages in particular in PET bottles is by now extremely high. That is why Wanzl is now presenting the new "ELP" shopping trolley model with extendable swing rack for convenient and safe transport of large-volume PET and other bulk packs. The "ELP" model is a further innovation from the "EL" shopping trolley series developed by Wanzl in cooperation with the retail trade. A special feature of the successful "EL" series is the elegant chassis without any racks for storing merchandise to prevent inventory differences. To create lots of space in the basket at the same time, Wanzl added the "ELA" model with extendable crate holder to the series some time ago and is now adding the "ELP" version with swing rack specially for supermarkets with PET packs. The "ELP" shopping trolley will allow all commercially-available bottle packs to be easily stowed in the future at knee height on the integrated swing rack. A single touch is all that is needed to extend the swing rack that automatically latches into the end position. The customer then has both hands free for stowing the items. Wanzl offers the new "ELP" shopping trolley series in four basket volumes from 150 to 240 litres. One or two PET bottle packs can be carried in the swing rack depending on the model. Ideally, the swing rack will also provide secure and space-saving storage for other bulk packs such as washing powder, for example. And even with this heavy load, the manoeuvrability as well as the ease of steering of the new shopping trolley is fully retained. The "ELP" model also increases security in-store: the goods being carried in the swing rack are directly in the line of sight of till staff, helping to reduce inventory differences. After use, the "ELP" shopping trolleys can be compactly pushed into each other in the trolley row, whereupon the swing rack automatically retracts.
